Ankling is a running drill that improves ankle stiffness and our ability to spring during running.

The main movement is to pop up from your heel to your toe, then switch sides. The movement should come from the ankle rather than from the knees or hips. The foot does not come too far off the ground at any point and the steps forward are very short. The upper body should be tall with a slight forward lean. Keep your elbows tucked in to your sides at a 80-90 degree angle and moving with the same tempo as the feet.

To perfect your technique, start off doing this in a stationary position before you start to travel forwards.
