If it's your first time using Runna on your Garmin device, check out this companion article to help get you started.
Compatible Devices
Firstly, please check whether your Garmin watch is compatible with Runna. Most models and versions are, but not all. All watches that support Garmin Coach will support your Runna plan. We’ve compiled a list in the article below which was correct at the time of writing, but please check Garmin’s website for the latest updates.
Garmin Connection Issues
If you've encountered issues activating the Garmin connection within the Runna app's 'Connected Apps & Devices' section - either getting stuck during the authentication process or experiencing a failed connection - please try reconnecting using the following steps:
Head into the Runna app, and select your Profile in the upper left-hand corner
Choose Connected Apps & Devices then scroll down to Garmin Watch
Select Garmin Connect
Select the Sync to Garmin button
Log in to your Garmin Connect account using the information you use for Garmin. Note: these may be different to your Runna login credentials.
Head into your Garmin Connect App, select your Profile in the top left-hand corner and choose Settings.
Scroll down to Connected Apps and check Runna is connected here too!
This procedure often resolves the issue and enables a successful connection with Garmin.
My workouts have stopped syncing from Runna to the Garmin Connect App
If your workouts have stopped syncing to your Garmin account, please try switching the Garmin connection off and on again in the Runna app. Provided you're signed up to Runna Premium, this should fix it. If not, please get in touch via the in-app support channel and let us know!
Every Sunday, we send 2 weeks of workouts across to your Garmin Training Calendar. This is primarily to save storage space on your watch, so don't be alarmed if you are unable to see all your future workouts in there yet!
My workouts have stopped syncing to my Garmin watch
Sometimes your Garmin watch will stop syncing with the Garmin Connect on your mobile phone, which will prevent the latest workouts from syncing to your watch. When this happens, please open your Garmin Connect Mobile App and click on the Sync icon in the top right corner. This will re-sync all your latest workouts to your watch, so make sure to refresh this connection after making any changes to your plan too!
Sometimes, you may find that your Runna workout for the day doesn't automatically appear when you go to start a run activity on your watch. This is often is due to accidentally skipping the 'prompt', but you can always find this again in the Training Calendar on your watch. On your watch, simply select Run > Options > Training Calendar > choose the workout you want to complete.
Manually resyning workouts from Runna to my Garmin watch
If you accidentally skip a workout in your Runna app, or wish to redo a workout that's been marked as complete, you'll need to follow the steps below.
First, please make sure the workout you wish to complete is unskipped and unticked and there is no linked activity in the Runna app.
Within five seconds, this should release the workout to automatically sync back across to your Garmin Connect App. You can check this in the Runna app via the timestamp shown in the image below (ie Synced 17/05/2024 at 11:24, next to the little blue triangle).
Once you've done this, you'll need to refresh the Bluetooth connection between your watch and the Garmin Connect app by pressing the sync button in the top right hand corner of your Garmin Connect app. Usually, you should then be able to start your workout on your watch by selecting Run > Options > Training Calendar > choosing the intended workout.
If you're still having issues, you'll need to manually push this workout from your Garmin Connect App to your watch by following the steps in the images below:
My completed workouts have stopped syncing from Garmin to my Runna App
This is likely due to a poor Wi-Fi signal, mobile connection, or unfortunately an issue on Garmin's side (either within your watch, a software update or their own servers). If this occurs, please check that both your Garmin Connect app and the firmware on your Garmin watch are up to date.
If this all looks okay, try connecting to a strong Wi-Fi signal and click on the Sync icon in the top right of your Garmin Connect Mobile App. If you continue to run into trouble, be sure to contact Garmin's support team.
Other Issues

We'll try and help as much as we can, but you may need to contact Garmin directly for support.
