The Hip Drop (or Hip Hitch) is an exercise that helps to create stability in our hips. This is really useful for runners so that our hips do not move up and down while running. This exercise will create the movement that we want to avoid whilst running, so that our muscles are stronger and less likely to do this movement unintentionally.
Place one foot onto the edge of a raised platform. Your other foot should begin in a neutral position at the same level as the foot on the platform. From here you will drop your non-platform foot down and then bring it back up to above the other foot.
The movement should come solely from the hips and as a result it won't be a large movement, just a subtle up and down whilst keeping the spine and shoulders still.
