🎒 What Should I Pack?
Packing for race day is crucial. Not only is it important to ensure you haven’t forgotten anything vital, but also to get that pre-race buzz going! Here’s some things to consider:
Running Kit: Wear your race-day outfit before you set off for the race in the morning.
Sports Nutrition: Pack any gels, chews, or snacks you’ve used in training. There will be gels handed out on the course, but bring your own so you know you're prepped!
A pre-run layer: It is a good idea to bring an old jumper to the start line to keep warm. It can be COLD early in Paris, even if the forecast is bright for the rest of the day. We would suggest bringing some warm clothes which you can then discard at the start line. Runners can discard clothing at the start of the race and these will be collected and recycled.
Bag Drop: Pack a warm top, spare socks, blister plasters, and a recovery snack for after the race.
Electronics: Charge your phone, watch, and headphones the night before. Download any necessary playlists which will get you through those kms!

👀 Should I Run the Day Before?
Some runners find a short, easy run the day before helps shake out the legs and calm the nerves. If this has worked for you in the past, go for it! If not, consider some light foam rolling or stretching instead. Maybe a walk to keep those legs fresh could also be an option!
We'll be hosting our very own Runna 5km shakeout run led by Runna’s coaches through the heart of Paris. Ease yourself into race weekend and loosen up for the big day!
Details to be shared closer to the time!
🍝 What should I eat on the lead up to the Paris Marathon?
During the week leading up to your race, keep it simple with high-carb, familiar foods like pasta, rice, bread, and potatoes to keep energy up and your stomach happy. Carb-loading can help you feel fuelled without overdoing it: spread your carbs throughout the day and stick with foods you’ve enjoyed in training. Avoid anything too fatty, spicy, or brand new—it’s not the time for surprises! Stay well-hydrated, and skip alcohol for a good night’s sleep. Rest, hydrate, and feel ready to hit the ground running!
We've got some more information on race week nutrition here!
💪 Final Preparations & Official Start Times
Once you're packed, fuelled, and hydrated, consider adding a light mobility session to your routine. Stretching can help release any tension and prepare you for a restful sleep before race day.
We're still waiting on specifics for the 2025 event, stay tuned for updated information!
Make sure to get that alarm set, and we recommend finishing any preparation the night before. The morning will be for fuelling, travelling, and managing that excited/nervous energy!

The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris offers both a personal challenge as well as the opportunity to explore one of the world's most iconic cities by foot. You'll begin your journey with the Arc de Triomphe at the starting line, and proceed to run through the French capital’s renowned avenues and squares, including the Place de la Concorde. You'll then race along the Rue de Rivoli, past the Opéra Garnier and the Place de la Bastille, before entering the Bois de Vincennes nearing your half way mark. As you come back through the city, along the way you'll be able to take in the breathtaking sights of Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower as you loop around the Bois de Boulogne and head towards the finish line.
FYI mixed toilet stalls are available on the road race, close to each fuelling zone every 5k!

🐌 How should I pace myself on race day?
You’ll have the opportunity to fully utilise the race day workout provided by Runna. Expect pacing alerts and audio cues similar to those during your training runs, helping you stay on track. Pacing can be tricky with the excitement of the start line. To avoid going out too fast, practice your race-day routine during your shakeout run. Download your playlists, set up Runna for pace or RPE cues, and ensure your devices are fully charged.
The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris Marathon’s elevation gain is 269 meters, meaning that its elevation profile is Rolling. Due to the rolling nature of the course, we don't currently offer 'pace target' style audio cues on your plan for the race, this is because your pace will vary when you are going up and down hills and it is difficult to predict exactly what pace you will be running at! Instead, you will receive feedback for each kilometre that you run - please have a look at the workout before your race day. You can always start this workout before Sunday's race to see how things will look and then discard it once you are happy with how your workout will be displayed!
Start off at a comfortable pace and aim to negative split by the halfway mark. The support along the route is incredible, and you'll truly enjoy the experience! Try not to worry about what other runners are doing, focus on your race, and listen to the crowds who will be rooting for you the whole way round!
Be aware that the tall buildings in the city can cause some GPS issues on race day. So, it's a good idea to rely on the pace markers and your own instincts regarding your marathon pace.
Here are a few more tips on marathon pacing for you!
🛰️ How Should I Navigate GPS Issues on the Day?
With so many runners, GPS signals can sometimes be spotty. Stick to your usual method of recording your runs on Runna, and be prepared for a possible delay in uploading your race data. If you encounter issues, save your activity and refresh your app when you have a stronger signal or Wi-Fi.
🎖️ What's Next After the Race?
You did it!! Now it's time to celebrate... grab your refreshment of choice, loosen your shoelaces, and take some time to stretch and enjoy this moment incroyable in the city of lights! Those legs may be sore tomorrow, but take the time to soak up that post-race high in wonderful Paris.
Best of luck with your 2025 Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris, and most importantly, have fun! Allons-y! 🇫🇷
