📣 Heads up! This guide references a new feature that we're gradually rolling out. If you don't have access to it yet, don't worry, you will in just a matter of weeks! 📣

What Are Mileage Insights?

Mileage Insights help you stay on track by recommending adaptations to your training plan based on your completed mileage.

Whether you’re adding extra miles to the track, squeezing in a parkrun, or cutting your long run short for a coffee stop, Mileage Insights accounts for your actual training load to offer smart, sustainable adjustments to keep your progression safe and effective.

How Do Mileage Insights Work?

Mileage Insights track all of your runs, including planned workouts, Free Runs and Instant Workouts! Once the feature has enough data, it will generate a mileage status update and suggest adjustments to help keep your training safe and sustainable.

For example:

  • Missed mileage: If you skip a long run, Mileage Insights may adjust your upcoming workouts to help you rebuild gradually, so you don’t overload when getting back on track.

  • Extra mileage: If you’re consistently running more than planned, Mileage Insights may recommend a higher training volume to better match your training load and keep your progression balanced.

Please note: Mileage Insights recommendations are currently only available on race plans. They are not yet available on non-race plans (e.g General Fitness, New to Running, and Return to Running) or other plans such as postnatal or post-injury plans.

What Will Mileage Insight Recommendations Look Like?

  • Mileage on Track: You’re right where you should be. Keep it up!

  • Ahead of your plan: You’re running more than planned. We’ll suggest adjustments to match your actual training load.

  • Let's adjust your mileage: You’re running less than planned. We’ll suggest changes to help you rebuild gradually.

  • Let's get you back on track: If you’ve fallen behind significantly and your current goal is no longer realistic, we’ll recommend rebuilding your plan.

FAQ's

What recommendations can I receive?

Mileage Insights can recommend changes to:

  • Weekly mileage – adjusting your overall mileage for the week

  • Long run mileage – updating how your long runs progress over time

  • Runs per week – changing the number of scheduled runs in your week

What if I disagree with a recommendation?

No problem, you can dismiss any recommendation if it doesn’t feel right!

What impact will the recommendation have on my race time?

When a change is suggested, we’ll show you whether it’s expected to impact your projected Race Time. If you have any queries or need some coaching support, please feel free to reach out via our in-app support channel and we'll do our best to help!

Will the walking rests during interval sessions affect Mileage Insights recommendations?

During interval sessions, your device may record extra distance while you’re walking in recovery, which can slightly increase your total workout distance. This is normal, and as long as you’re following the workout as prescribed - including the walking recoveries - it should not meaningfully affect your Mileage Insights recommendations.

Why has my Mileage Insights reset?

To keep your recommendations accurate, Mileage Insights will reset whenever you:

  • Accept or dismiss a recommendation

  • Manually change your plan (e.g. weekly mileage, number of runs, or skipping weeks)

If your Insights reset, we’ll let you know directly within the Mileage Insights section.

Why am I getting an "error" when trying to accept a Mileage Insight recommendation?

This usually happens because the recommended update to your weekly mileage or long-run distance exceeds the allowed range for your current ability level and scheduled run days. These limits are in place to keep your training safe and aligned with your profile settings.

To resolve this, you can:

  1. Go to Plan > Manage Plan and increase your ability level if you feel ready for higher mileage.

  2. Go to Plan > Manage Plan and add additional run days to your schedule to distribute the mileage more safely.

Once you’ve made one of these adjustments, try accepting the Mileage Insight recommendation again.

Can I revert a Mileage Insights mileage update?

Unfortunately, you cannot automatically revert a Mileage Insight recommendation once it has been accepted. However, you can manually adjust your plan:

  1. Go to Plan > Manage Plan > Weekly Mileage.

  2. Update the mileage to what is was before, and your plan will rebuild based on those settings.

If you can't remember your previous mileage, please contact us through the in-app support channel and we'll be able to help!

Can I access Mileage Insights on all plans?

No, Mileage Insight recommendations are currently only available on race-based plans. We hope to expand this feature to other plan types in the near future!
