Sometimes you complete a workout outside of Runna, record a race separately, or need to replace a planned session with a manually entered activity. The good news is that there are a few easy ways to keep your plan and activity history organised.
This guide covers how to:
manually add an activity
link an activity to a planned workout
log a race when a plan feature isn’t supported
handle incorrect run distance or pace data
How to Manually Add an Activity
If you’ve already completed a run and want it to show in Runna, you can add it manually.
To do this:
Open the Activities tab
Tap the + icon
Select the activity type
Enter the distance, time, and any other details
Save the activity
This is especially useful if:
you forgot to record a run
you completed a race outside the app
you want to add a workout that was done manually
How to Link an Activity to a Planned Workout
If you’ve completed a run and want it to count against a planned session in your plan, you can link it.
To do this:
Go to the Plan tab
Open the relevant workout
Tap Link Activity
Select the completed activity from your Activities tab
This helps keep your plan aligned and ensures completed runs connect back to the right scheduled workout.
How to Add an Extra Run You’ve Already Done
If you did an extra run outside your plan, you can add it manually through the Activities tab.
If you want it to replace one of your scheduled sessions, link it to that workout using the steps above.
How to Log a Race When a Plan Feature Isn’t Supported
If your plan doesn’t support a feature like B-races, or if your event format isn’t currently supported in the app, you can still log the race manually.
One common workaround is:
Go to the Plan tab
Open the Calendar
Tap Add
Select Race or add the run manually
Enter the race date and distance
⚠️ This won’t always auto-adjust the rest of your training plan, replace your long run, or change your mileage progression — but it will allow the race to appear in your calendar and be recorded in your training history.
How to Fix a Run or Race That Recorded Incorrectly
If your activity shows the wrong distance or pace, the best workaround depends on how it was recorded.
If the run was recorded in Runna
Once a run is saved in Runna, you can’t directly edit its distance or time.
If something is wrong, the best option is usually to:
delete the incorrect activity if appropriate, then
add a Manual Activity with the correct details
You can then link that manual activity to the planned workout if needed.
If the run synced from another app or watch
If your run came from Garmin, Apple Health, Strava, or another connected source:
correct the activity in the original app if possible
refresh Runna by pulling down in the Activities tab or reconnecting the integration
if needed, delete and re-import the corrected activity
Can I Use Manual Activities for Races?
Yes — this is often the best workaround if:
your recorded race distance is slightly off
your race format wasn’t directly supported
you want a cleaner record of your race result in Runna
For example, if your race saved as 4.97 km but you want 5.00 km shown in your activity list, you can manually add the result with the correct distance.
How to Redo a Workout
If you want to redo a workout:
open the completed activity
tap the ✅ check mark to mark it as incomplete
go back to the planned workout
unlink the original activity if needed
drag the workout to a new date in your calendar
This lets you complete the session again while keeping your plan organised.
FAQs
Can I edit the distance of a completed run directly in Runna?
No — completed run distance and time can’t be edited directly once saved. The usual workaround is to add a Manual Activity with the correct details.
Can I link more than one activity to a Runna workout?
If your activities didn’t merge automatically, you may still be able to link multiple sessions to one planned workout, depending on how they were recorded.
What if my watch has already synced the activity automatically?
That’s fine — if the run appears in your Activities tab, you can still link it to the relevant workout.
Will manual activities change my plan structure?
No — manual activities help keep your history accurate, but they don’t usually rebuild or adapt your plan automatically.
