Benefits of Training with a COROS Watch
By pairing your Runna plan with your COROS watch, you’ll be guided in real time - no more having to remember your set distance, pace, or rest periods. Your watch will tell you exactly how much further you have left to run, what your current pace is, and how that compares to your target.
You’ll also get alerts to start, stop, speed up, and slow down, and your rest periods will automatically count down so you know exactly when to run again.
After your session, you can review your workout in the Runna app and see how it matched up against your plan.
Is My COROS Watch Supported by Runna?
Runna currently supports most COROS Watches, including: PACE, PACE 2, PACE 3, PACE 4, PACE Pro, NOMAD, APEX 2, APEX 2 Pro, APEX 4, VERTIX 2, VERTIX 2S, and DURA.
If you have any of the COROS watches above, you’ll be able to sync it with Runna so you can see your Runna Workouts in your watch and have your completed activities sync back to Runna.
How to Pair Your COROS Watch With Runna
To connect your COROS watch to Runna:
Open the Runna app and go to your Profile
Tap Connected Apps & Devices
Tap Connect Watch
Select COROS
Log in using your COROS account credentials when prompted and accept all permissions
Once connected, your Runna workouts will automatically sync to your COROS app. You can then import your Runna plan to your COROS Watch.
What to expect after connecting:
For Runna Premium users, your next two full weeks of workouts (unskipped and not completed) will sync to COROS app every Monday.
For free trial users, only the workouts scheduled within your free trial week will sync to COROS app.
If you switch plans, adjust or make changes to your current Runna plan, your Runna workouts in COROS will automatically update to reflect those changes.
When you mark a workout as complete, it will also be removed from your COROS calendar.
On the days that you're not scheduled to run, we've added free runs into your calendar - just in case you'd like to add a run outside of your plan (e.g parkrun)!
How to Import Your Runna Plan and Training Calendar to Your COROS Watch
Once the Runna and COROS connection is established, you can send your Runna workouts from the COROS app to your COROS watch by following these steps:
Open the COROS app and pull down on the home screen to refresh.
Tap Training Calendar.
Select the three dots in the top right corner.
Tap Sync with your watch.
You can view your Runna plan in the COROS app by going to Training Calendar → three dots → In progress → Runna Training Plan. Here, you’ll be able to see your next two weeks of scheduled runs.
Note: Changes made to the COROS Training Calendar will not reflect in Runna; you need to reschedule your runs within Runna and re-sync your watch!
What Your COROS Watch Can — and Can't — Do with Runna
What the COROS connection can do with Runna:
See your upcoming workouts on your wrist: scheduled Runna sessions appear on your COROS watch under Runna Training Plan.
Plan and workout updates: your watch updates whenever you switch or adjust your current plan or reschedule your workouts, and workouts marked as complete in Runna are removed automatically from the COROS calendar.
Completed runs sync back to Runna after each session with all metrics captured by your COROS watch.
Real-time metrics: heart rate, cadence, calories, distance, and pace tracked while you run
What the COROS connection can’t do with Runna:
Non-running activities (cycling, strength sessions, cross-training) cannot sync to Runna via COROS
Workouts from before you connected COROS will not backfill into Runna — only runs started after the connection was set up will sync
Runna’s audio cues are currently not supported on COROS. However, some COROS watches do have their own native audio cues but these won’t be Runna-specific prompts.
Free runs manually linked to a Runna planned workout are not eligible for Pace Insights analysis. We recommend to always start via the synced Runna workout on your COROS watch.
When I Connect My COROS Watch to Runna, What About Strava?
If you use both Runna and Strava, we recommend to also sync COROS with Strava so your COROS-recorded activities show up in Strava.
To connect COROS with Strava, go to COROS app → Settings → Connected Apps → Strava.
It’s better to sync directly from COROS to Strava rather than routing through Runna. We can sync activities from Strava back to Runna, but we're unable to sync activities through the chain COROS → Runna → Strava due to data-handling limitations.
Note: COROS-recorded workouts won't include the "with Runna" title or workout description when they appear in Strava.
Recommended COROS Settings for Runna Workouts
There are a few COROS settings we recommend adjusting to get the best experience when following Runna workouts on your watch. These settings help ensure your workouts run smoothly and your data is easier to review afterward.
Units of Measurement
Please note that your COROS workout will appear in the same unit of measurement (miles/kilometres) as your Runna plan. For a smooth experience, we recommend making sure your COROS account is configured to the same unit of measurement as your Runna plan.
Turn OFF auto lap for structured sessions
By default, COROS watches automatically create a new lap every 1 km or 1 mile. For structured Runna workouts with longer intervals (e.g., 2 km repeats), this splits laps mid-interval and makes your pace data harder to read. We recommend turning auto lap off for Runna workouts. If you’re heading out for a casual run, time trial or race, you may want to turn auto lap back on so your watch continues to provide regular pace updates.
Turn OFF auto pause
Auto pause automatically stops your workout when your watch detects that you’ve stopped moving. During Runna interval workouts, this can pause your recovery countdown if you're walking slowly for your rest periods. We recommend turning auto pause off and manually pausing if you need to stop briefly (e.g., at traffic lights).
How To Start a Runna Workout With Your COROS Watch
Recording Outdoor Runs
For outdoor runs, we recommend starting your workout only from your COROS watch using the synced Runna session. This ensures a more accurate GPS reading and pace data and that your activity links automatically to the planned workout in Runna.
On your COROS watch, tap Run.
When prompted with “Start the workout scheduled for today?”, tap Yes.
Recording Treadmill Runs
Since your COROS watch can't accurately measure pace or distance indoors, we recommend recording treadmill runs from the Runna app on your phone.
If you also want health metrics like heart rate, cadence, and calories, start a treadmill run on both the Runna app and your COROS at the same time (or within 60s of each other) — Runna will merge both recordings automatically once both activities are saved.
For full step-by-step instructions of treadmill runs with a Smartwatch, check out Recording a Treadmill Workout with Your Compatible Smartwatch.
What Happens After I Complete My Workout With My COROS Watch?
After you’ve completed your run with your COROS watch, your completed workout will sync back to Runna and link to the planned workout.
The completed workout is stored on your COROS watch and syncs to the COROS app
From the COROS app, it syncs automatically to Runna
In Runna, the activity links to your planned workout and you can review your post-run stats, including how your pace compared to your pace targets. If you’re consistently exceeding, or not quite hitting your targets, we will recommend adjustments to ensure that these remain challenging but achievable through Pace Insights.
If you have Strava connected via the COROS app, the run also syncs to Strava automatically
⚠️ Important: If you experience syncing issues from your COROS watch back to Runna, please do not uninstall the COROS app - this can result in lost data. Instead, check out our FAQ for troubleshooting steps below and contact our team via the in-app support channel if the issue persists.
How to Disconnect your COROS Watch from Runna
To remove the COROS connection:
Go to Profile → Connected Apps & Devices
Select COROS
Tap Disconnect
This will remove your Runna workouts from your COROS Watch and stop completed workouts from syncing automatically. Reconnect at any time to resume.
FAQs
Why isn’t my Runna plan syncing to my COROS watch?
There are a few common reasons why your workouts may not appear on your COROS watch:
If you’re on a free week trial, only the workouts scheduled within your trial week will sync to COROS.
If you’re a Runna Premium user, your next two full weeks of workouts will sync to COROS every Monday.
COROS only displays the next two weeks of scheduled workouts from your plan, so it may look like nothing has synced if you’re viewing dates further ahead.
If you can't see any workouts, try a manual resync in the COROS app:
Go to Training Calendar
Open the menu
Select Sync with your watch
If things still don't pull through, check that you’re logged into the correct COROS account. If you’re unsure or that didn’t work:
Disconnect + reconnect COROS: Runna app → Plan tab → Connected Apps → COROS → Disconnect → Reconnect using the correct COROS account
Open the COROS app and leave it open for ~30 seconds (this can push any backlog)
Syncing again in the COROS app
I’ve updated my plan in the Runna app, but it’s not showing on COROS. What should I do?
If changes to your Runna plan are not showing in COROS, it’s usually because COROS needs a manual refresh, or because the active plan in COROS is not the one currently live in Runna.
Do a manual re-sync.
First, open the COROS app and pull down to refresh. Then: Training Calendar → tap the three dots (top right) → Sync with your watch. This will push the latest workouts to your device.
Check the correct Runna Plan is started in Coros.
The COROS app can store multiple plans (including older plans or duplicates), so it's worth checking that you have the correct Runna plan selected and started in COROS.
In the COROS app:
Go to Training Plan Library → My Training Plans
Check which plan is marked In progress
If needed, select your current Runna plan
Tap Sync with your device
How can I have Runna’s audio cues while using a COROS Watch?
Runna’s personalised audio cues are currently not available on COROS watches. If you'd like audio guidance, you'll have to start your workout from Runna phone app and your watch, but you may get conflicting pace/distance information with the two separate devices and GPS hardware used in each.
Can I run without my phone and only with my COROS Watch?
Yes, you can leave your phone behind if you start your Runna workout from the COROS Watch. Your completed workout will then sync back to Runna.
Why didn't my run recorded on COROS automatically link to my planned workout in Runna?
This usually happens when Runna can't match your completed activity to the planned workout in your training plan. The most common reason is that the run was recorded as a free run, instead of starting the Runna workout that was sent to your watch.
If this happens, the activity may still sync into Runna, but it won't automatically attach to the planned session. You can manually link it:
Open the planned workout in your Runna app.
Select the option to Link Activity.
Choose the correct activity from your Activities tab.
Why are my COROS runs appearing as a free run / incompatible run in Runna instead of a planned workout?
To make sure your Runna workouts started on COROS link to a planned workout, please check the following:
You start the workout from the scheduled Runna workout on your COROS watch, rather than as a normal Run activity.
In Runna app, check that Pace Targets are turned on in Profile > Workouts > Pace Targets.
On COROS, please turn Auto Lap off.
On COROS, please turn Auto Pause off.
Make sure your Runna and COROS accounts are using the same units, either km or miles.
