What is My Runna Score?

Your Runna Score is a measure of your estimated current running ability with respect to your current plan.

How Is My Runna Score Calculated?

Your Runna Score is based on your estimated race times—5k, 10k, or half marathon. As you progress through your training and improve your fitness, your estimated race time updates, and so does your Runna Score.

A higher Runna Score means your running performance is improving. A lower score might indicate that your progress has stalled, or that your training data suggests a slower estimated race time.

Note: We are continuously refining the way Runna Score is calculated. The factors and their weightings may change over time as we improve the feature.

What Does My Score Mean?

  • Higher score & lighter green color → You're progressing well, keep it up!

  • Lower score & darker green color → Your estimated performance has declined, or your training data suggests you’re not hitting your planned targets.

At the moment, the Runna Score does not have a fixed upper limit, and it is not graded against a universal scale. Instead, it’s relative to your training and estimated race times.

Example of Runna Score in Action

Let’s say James starts his training plan with an estimated 5k time of 28 minutes. As he trains and improves, his estimated 5k time drops to 25 minutes, and his Runna Score increases to reflect that progress:

  • Runna Score: 688 → Starting out, based on a 28-minute 5k.

  • Runna Score: 760 → After consistent training, based on a 25-minute 5k.

The goal is to see your Runna Score move upwards as you improve your running fitness.

What If My Score Drops?

If your score goes down, don’t stress—it doesn’t mean you’re not making progress. It might be due to:

  • A recent period of reduced training

  • Tougher sessions where you struggled to hit your target paces

  • An updated estimated race time that reflects current performance

Your Runna Score is a guide, not a judgment. It’s there to help you track progress, but it shouldn’t dictate your motivation.

Can I Adjust My Score?

While you can’t manually change your Runna Score, you can adjust your estimated race time in the app. If you feel your paces are too hard or too easy, you can:

  1. Go to your Plan Settings.

  2. Adjust your Estimated Current Race Time (increase or decrease by 20-30 seconds).

  3. This will recalibrate the paces across all your workouts and impact your Runna Score accordingly.

Future Updates

We’re planning to improve the Runna Score in 2025 to make it more useful and transparent. For now, if it doesn’t feel relevant to you, feel free to focus on your training, pace adaptability (with Runna AI), and personal progress.
