The Side Bend stretch is a simple but effective movement the helps to relieve muscle tension in your back, hips and core. It is done standing up so also helps with stability and balance.

Start by standing tall with your feet shoulder width apart. Place your right hand on your hip and extend your left arm above your head. Now you are in position, stretch towards your right side with your left arm, whilst keeping your body facing forwards and feet firmly on the ground. You will form a 'C' shape. As you stretch to the side, aim to keep your posture nice and tall. Breath and relax into the stretch, move slowly and hold for 5-8 breaths before repeating on the other side.
