Adjusting Your Training Units

Prefer using kilometers or miles, Celsius or Fahrenheit, running on the treadmill or even running to effort? Chose the unit of measure that works for you!

What Units of Measure Does Runna Offer?

Runna offers a variety of units, so select the one that suits you best:

  • Pace and distance units: kilometres or miles

  • Training intensity: pace targets or effort-based (RPE)

  • Temperature units: Celsius or Fahrenheit

How to Change Your Pace and Distance Units (km vs miles)

Plans are optimised for kilometres by default, but you can change this at any time:

  1. Go to Profile (top-left)

  2. Scroll to Units

  3. Select Optimise for Kilometres or Optimise for Miles

  4. Tap Update (top-right)

This will regenerate your plan to reflect your preferred unit of measure. Target paces and audio cues will convert automatically. For example, if you chose to optimise for miles, "2km @ 5:00/km" becomes "1.3mi @ 8:00/mi".

⚠️ Make sure your selected unit matches what's displayed on your smartwatch (e.g. Garmin or COROS) to ensure paces and audio cues are delivered correctly.

On a treadmill

Depending on the unit of measure your selected, distances on the treadmill will be shown in kilometres or miles, and speeds will be displayed in kph or mph. If you have a compatible treadmill, we can also automatically set speeds and inclines for you.

How to Switch to Effort-Based Training (RPE)

If you prefer to train by feel rather than hitting specific pace targets, switch to RPE (Rate of Perceived Effort):

  1. Go to Profile

  2. Scroll to Unit

  3. Select RPE under Workout Targets

Your workouts will then guide you based on effort level (e.g. RPE 4) instead of exact paces.

How to Change Temperature Units

You can change your temperature display with the following steps:

  1. Go to Profile

  2. Scroll to Unit

  3. Select your preferred temperature unit between Celsius or Fahrenheit under Temperature
